PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT SPEED SENSOR (SENSOR INSTALLATION)

(a) Make sure that the connector is properly connected, and check the speed sensor installation.

OK:

The installation bolts are tightened properly and there is no clearance between the sensor and transaxle case.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE SPEED SENSOR See: Powertrain Management/Transmission Control Systems/Sensors and

Switches - Transmission and Drivetrain/Sensors and Switches - A/T/Transmission Speed Sensor/Service and Repair/Removal (to

12/2010)

OK -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK TRANSMISSION WIRE

(a) Remove the TCM.

(b) Disconnect the speed sensor connector from the transmission wire.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:

NG -- REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Wiring

Harness/Service and Repair/Removal (to 12/2010)

OK -- Continue to next step.

3. REPLACE SPEED SENSOR

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK IF DTC OUTPUT RECURS (SEE IF DTC P0791 AND/OR P0793 IS OUTPUT AGAIN)

(a) Connect Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Start the engine and turn the Techstream main switch ON.

(c) Perform the monitor drive pattern See: Powertrain Management/Transmission Control Systems/Testing and Inspection/Monitors,

Trips, Drive Cycles and Readiness Codes.
