Check for short
OK -- REPLACE TCM See: Powertrain Management/Transmission Control Systems/Relays and Modules - Transmission and
Drivetrain/Relays and Modules - A/T/Control Module/Service and Repair/Removal (to 12/2010)
NG -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL2
(a) Remove the shift solenoid valve SL2.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
(c) Connect a positive (+) lead through a 21 W bulb to terminal 2 and a negative (-) lead to terminal 1 of the solenoid valve connector,
then check the movement of the valve.
OK:
The solenoid makes an operating sound.

U660E AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE: AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE SYSTEM: P0778: Pressure Control Solenoid "B" Electrical (Shift
Solenoid Valve SL2)
P0778 - Pressure Control Solenoid "B" Electrical (Shift Solenoid Valve SL2)
DESCRIPTION
Shifting from 1st to 6th is performed in combination with "ON" and "OFF" operation of the shift solenoid valves SL1, SL2, SL3, SL4 and SL which
is controlled by the TCM. If an open or short circuit occurs in any of the shift solenoid valves, the TCM controls the remaining normal shift solenoid
valve to allow the vehicle to be operated smoothly See: Powertrain Management/Transmission Control Systems/Testing and Inspection/Initial
Inspection and Diagnostic Overview/Fail-Safe Chart.
